The neighbourhood of Isola had a story of its own amidst the geography of Milan; as if there were a sea around it. Today, the bridge, wanted by few, sacrifices (for the interests of real estate) its complex identity.

The interest for dynamism and continuous change is something that characterises the grand areas at the margins of the urban system which concretises in the story of an area of Milan in which its open and heterogeneous nature has always been strongly reinforced by the connection of art and social/cultural initiatives. During the end of 2007 and the beginning of 2008, after years of opposition by local artists, committees and residents, a project based on requalification was launched.

The Stecca degli Artigiani (ex Brown Boveri), once at the heart of creative ideas and experiences of an "Isola" (Island) that has always welcomed different realities, is offloaded and instantly demolished.

Historically framed between defined confinements, day by day the quarter witnesses a loss of character due to the separation that has always distinguished it from the rest of the city.
