Toy Camera: la Mia città
La mia città is a game, not at random it was made with a “toy camera”. A game, not a joke. For children playing is a damn serious activity. Play in English, jouer in French translate not only “game” but also an artistic “performance”, may it be theatre, music or any other kind of work.
And, by magic, through the lense of a toy camera, the city - as if in science fiction or in a dream transfiguration - transforms itself and explodes into a game of colours and shapes.
La Mia Milano, traditionally described as grey and austere, is transformed into a coloured and singing city. La Mia città is a way of looking at reality by reinventing it: by adding layers with double expositions, by discovering colours and shapes otherwise invisible, by taking off a bit of grey from city that is too often mistreated by clichés.
The traditional white canvas, in this divertissement , leaves place to a celluloid film, which is still able to astonish with impressive colours and allows to give shape (and colour) to a dream vision.
But don't take la Mia città too seriously which, in the end is, like a kaleidoscope, only a game conceived not to document, but to impress. After all Milan is beautiful, you just need to look at it, look for it and, why not, reinvent it.
