Reflections of life
In his “Manifesto del Futurismo”, Marinetti clearly expressed the tendencies of his society and, at the same time, he brilliantly previewed the ugly present: pointless and frantic technological rush; glorification of militarism; worship of speed; destruction of culture, museums and academies. It’s impossible now not to see the effects of such models of thought in our daily life.
Faces and gestures of people in the streets are marked by this new society. Wandering in Milan, I have tried to photograph the “crossroad of lives” reflected on public transport windows or at bus stops (it is not the case of double exposition or paste-up).
I have portrayed people passing-by as unaware parts of a bigger puzzle of lives, which intersect with each other. They become the main characters of stories not likely to happen, but real and maybe possible: a mirror of common pain, the icons of today’s Milan.
