Lights on Sella Nuova
In the name of a sustainable environment, a Milanese association is working in order to make an old agricultural settlement readily accessible for local residents.
Cascina Sella Nuova is situated in close proximity to the Parco di Trenno (Trenno Park) and like other agricultural settlements in the greater Milan area, it has seen much progress and urban growth. The construction of new residential apartment blocks in the zone has brought a gradual halt to the principal agricultural activities within this farming community, which has actually now been abandoned. In light of the Expo 2015, the association "In Sella Nuova" is taking on the challenge of proposing possible destinations for the use of the old farmstead’s structure that aim at preserving it and creating a sustainable environment, with the involvement of local communities and residents that would like to get involved. This photographic project was born with the intention of describing and explaining the areas of which the association would like to restore and improve, looking mainly at giving this space its identity back because as it stands today, it remains mainly unused.
